The Hungarian Holy Crown and the Coronation Regalia/A magyar Szent Korona és a koronázási jelvények

Endre Tóth is an archaeologist, a candidate of historical sciences, a doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and an outstanding scholar of the Holy Crown. As the author of this monumental volume, devoted among others to the origins and significance of the crown, he summed up his research of several decades. He relates the process of his research and discusses methodological issues, while answering fundamental questions and providing a historical context for the extraordinary significance of the Holy Crown and the coronation regalia. The volume contains more than one hundred, thus far unpublished, new photographs. The enlarged version of the Hungarian volume (2018) was published in English in 2021. Contributions to the content was made by academic staff member Attila Zsoldos, who in his introduction gives an overview of the history of Hungary, placing it on the imaginary map of the events and connections in medieval Europe. The text on the history of the crown is augmented by the most recent findings of the research conducted by historian Géza Pálffy and his team. The publication comes full circle with an essay written by legal historian Attila Horváth on the Doctrine of the Holy Crown. Tóth Endre régész, a történettudományok kandidátusa, az MTA doktora, egyúttal a magyar Szent Korona kutatásának kiemelkedő alakja. A szerző több évtizedes kutatómunkájának eredményeit összegzi ebben a monumentális kötetben, melyben a Korona keletkezésének története és jelentősége is bemutatásra kerül. Ismerteti kutatásának történetét, módszertani problémákat vet fel, alapkérdéseket válaszol meg, egyúttal történeti kontextusba helyezi a Szent Korona és a hozzá tartozó jelvények kiemelkedő jelentőségét. A kötetben több mint száz, eddig soha nem publikált új fotó látható. A 2018-ban megjelent magyar kötet kibővített változata angol nyelven 2021-ben került kiadásra. A tartalomhoz hozzájárult Zsoldos Attila akadémikus, aki bevezetőjében Magyarország történetét tekinti át, és helyezi el a középkori Európa képzeletbeli eseménytörténeti és kapcsolati térképén. A korona történetének leírását Pálffy Géza történész és kutatócsoportja legújabb kutatási eredményei egészítik ki. A magyar Szent Korona és a koronázási jelvények magyar nyelvű kötete jelenleg nem kapható, tervezett javított és bővített újrakiadása 2022 utolsó negyedévére várható.
